What factors influence the current exchange rate of the Turkish lira (TRY/PLN)?
The TRY/PLN currency pair shows how many Polish zlotys (PLN) we have to pay for one Turkish lira (TRY). Turkey is a powerful, dynamic economy that connects European markets with those of the Middle East and Asia. However, the currency itself is characterized by very high volatility.
The daily, often sharp fluctuations in the Turkish lira exchange rate are influenced by:
- Decisions by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) – interest rate policy in Turkey is often unconventional, which directly affects the lira’s valuation by global markets.
- Inflation levels – Turkey has historically struggled with very high inflation, which systematically erodes the purchasing power of the local currency.
- The policy of the National Bank of Poland (NBP) and the general sentiment of global investors toward emerging market currencies.

Business settlements with Turkey
Poland imports massive quantities of textiles, clothing, automotive parts, and household appliances from Turkey. Unfortunately, the lira’s high volatility leads banks to classify it as an “exotic” currency carrying high risk. The result? Commercial banks impose massive currency spreads on the lira.
Every invoice for imports from Turkey paid at a bank means you lose part of your margin to hidden fees. At Trejdoo, we’re changing the rules:
- Attractive exchange rates for higher volumes: We offer direct exchange of PLN to TRY (and vice versa) at transparent, market-based rates.
- Risk management: With a free wallet, you can buy Turkish lira when the rate is most favorable for you and safely hold onto it until payment for the goods is due, protecting your company from sudden market fluctuations.
- International transfers: Send funds to your Turkish business partners quickly and conveniently.
Multi-currency card – Your travel essential
Are you planning a vacation in Antalya, Bodrum, or Istanbul? Many tourists still buy euros or dollars in Poland, only to exchange them for Turkish lira at a local currency exchange office upon arrival in Turkey. This is a classic case of double currency conversion, where you lose out twice! On the other hand, paying with a regular bank card in Turkish stores results in painful fees and so-called dynamic currency conversion (DCC) at the terminal.
The smartest solution is our multi-currency card. You top-up it with your currency, exchange it on the fly in the app for Turkish lira at an excellent rate, and pay at Turkish markets, hotels, and restaurants directly from your TRY balance. Zero fees, zero stress.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - TRY/PLN
How to correctly read the TRY/PLN exchange rate?
In this case, the Turkish lira (TRY) is the base currency and the Polish zloty (PLN) is the quote currency. The exchange rate shown indicates how many zlotys (or groszy) you will pay for one lira. For example, a rate of 0.1350 means that 1 TRY costs 13.5 groszy.
Is it better to take dollars or euros to Turkey, or should I buy Turkish lira?
Buying EUR or USD in cash just to exchange it back into Turkish lira in Turkey is very uneconomical, since you end up paying for the exchange twice. A much cheaper and safer option is to exchange your currency directly into Turkish lira in the app and use our free multi-currency card while you’re there.
Why is the exchange rate for the Turkish lira so unfavorable at banks?
Due to the extreme volatility of the Turkish market and high inflation in the country, commercial banks treat the lira as a high-risk currency. They hedge against sudden exchange rate fluctuations by widening their spreads as much as possible. Platforms such as Trejdoo operate using data from the wholesale market, which allows them to offer much more market-driven and fair prices.
What are the best times to exchange currency in the TRY/PLN pair?
The highest market liquidity for the TRY/PLN pair—and consequently the lowest spreads—occurs during the hours when the Istanbul Stock Exchange and European markets are open. You’ll typically find the best trading conditions on Trejdoo on business days from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time.
